Major-General Roelof T. Overakker


Major-General Roelof T. Overakker, born January 9th, 1890, was during the Dutch East Indies Campaign 1941-1942 a KNIL Territorial Commander for Mid-Sumatra Island. He surrendered to the Japanese forces on March 28th, 1942, near the town of Kutatjane, west of Kabanjahe (north Sumatra Island). In 1945, shortly before the end of the war, he was executed by the Japanese.

He was posthumously made a Knight 4th Class of the Military Order of William.
